Do it, set yourself a goal and train for it. I hurt my knee several time playing football and after the ninth knee injury I thought I no longer had a chance to make the squad for the local pub team... With my dreams shattered and eyes in tears I started cycling and now I frequently do cycling events of 200 miles. It is very rewarding. Go do it, swim the channel.

Yeah what a great idea.! Let’s doggy paddle across the worlds busiest shipping lane.
But it’s ok. You’re doing it for charity. And there ain’t that many things you can do for them. How about walking around the M25 during rush hour.? You won’t get wet. And you can carry a bucket for donations from drivers passing by. Everyone a winner.

Couple of good MATES (Twins) of mine are doing the swim to the Isle of Wight (along with one of their daughters) for charity in August... sod that never alone the channel
